About Frau Mappin
Hi! My name is Cami Mappin and I am the German teacher at Timberline. Here is some info about me!
* I have been teaching for 22 years in the Alpine / Highland area.
* I love teaching German and World History & Geography!
* I believe that my classes must be interesting, fun, and applicable to real life.
* I started learning German in 7th grade. I was a foreign exchange student in Germany during 11th grade and have been back to Germany numerous times.
* I graduated with a German major and Geography and History minors from the University of Utah. I also have a Masters degree in Education.
* Throughout my career, I have received many awards and honors for my work as an educator, yet the most satisfying of them all is the daily reward of observing the joy students find in speaking German!
* My husband, Don, and I have 2 kids.
* I love to read and play games- Ticket to Ride is my favorite!
* I love to travel and learn about new cultures.
* I believe that learning about cultures, religions, countries, and history enhances our perspectives and opinions about the world we live in and the events that are happening.

This class focuses on communication (speaking, writing, listening, and reading) in German and exploring German-speaking cultures. By the end of the school year, students will be able to communicate on specific topics in German. When students leave this class, they should be able to:

- introduce themselves and someone else, talking about age, where they are from and their birthday
- talk physical and personality traits and characteristics of themselves and others.
- describe their family
- talk about what they and others like to do (free time activities)
- talk about school: classes, teachers, grades, classroom items, and what they think about school.
- talk about where they like to hang out and where they live
- to talk about what they eat and order food in a restaurant
- to compare and contrast the differences between German-speaking cultures and American cultures.
