Today's Question:  What impact did the major civilizations of the Mid-East make?

*We learned these places the Mid-East- Egypt and capital- Israel, Jerusalem, Gaza Strip, West Bank, Golan Heights, & Lebanon- mark these on your Mid-East map on page 35
*Students learned about the the major civilizations of the Mid-East and took notes on page 46 from the ppt- See the Table of Contents on the Assignment Tab for the notes and the Mid-East History Presentation ppt.
*Students read about the Mid-East from a Upfront magazine article and answered questions on page 47- See the Table of Contents on the Assignment Tab for the questions and the Upfront magazine articles.
Homework: Read and annotate the Christianity article- page 48 of the Notebook

Wednesday, October 4
Today's Question:  Why did civilizations form around rivers in roughly the same time period.
​Agenda: 
*We learned 4 countries and 2 cities in the Mid-East- Egypt and capital- Cairo, Saudi Arabia and city Mecca, Yemen, and Oman- mark these on your Mid-East map on page 35

*Students completed the Zombie Apocalypse on page 41- see Table of Contents on the Assignment Tab
*Students learned about the 4 river civilizations by completing pages 42-45 with a Webquest- see the Table of Contents on the Assignment Tab

*We discussed want we will be learning in our new unit, Middle East and reviewed expectations.
*We reviewed the Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages with an activity
*We watched Episode #2 of Mankind: The Story of Us. Please watch the first 25 minutes of this video to get a good understanding of the impact of the Neolithic Age 
*We discussed the 8 characteristics of civilizations and students wrote self-directed notes on page 40.  See the Table of Contents on the Assignment Tab for the Civilizations ppt.

Today's Question:  TEST DAY
​Agenda: 
*Students took the Unit 1 TEST- see Mappin for make-up

*After the test, on page 9 of their notebook, students answered the unit 1 big questions- How does the physical geography of a place influence the lives of the people in that place?- Students should write 3 to 4 paragraphs.

Homework: Read about the Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages and create a graphic organizer for the characteristics of each on pages 38 & 39 of your notebook. Get the readings and the assignment from the Unit 2 Table of Contents on the Assignment Tab.

*We reviewed and practiced the new physical features terms

*We learned about what biomes are and answered questions 1-3 on the Biome Intro & Climate Notes (page 28). Complete these questions by reading the Biome Intro & Climate ppt. Get this assignment and ppt from the Table of Contents on the Assignment Tab. 
*Students presented their Biomes Presentations and completed the Biome Chart (page 30-31) as they learned from their classmates. See the Table of Contents on the Assignment Tab for the Biome Chart & readings to use to complete it (instead of using the presentations)

*We discussed how this video clip showed how human culture changes for the physical geography. On page 24 of your notebook, answer the question of the day by using one example from the video.

Tues. August 22
Today's Question:  Why study the world?
​Agenda: Today was an introduction to World Geography And History. We did multiple activities:
*  We completed If the Word were 100 People Activity. To make up for missing this activity, Watch this video clip - If the World Were 100 People Video - and then identify 3 things that was surprising or interesting and why you think we watched this video.
* We discussed reasons why we should study the world- Review this powerpoint- World Intro PPT- to identify 3 reasons why YOU should study the world.
* The disclosure was distributed- see the Assignments Tab
Homework: Turn in disclosures next class & start gathering materials needed for class.
